![]() Last weekend our beginners were able to prove their newly acquired knowledge and skills. The Viennese debate club hosted an English beginner's tournament: "Vienna Freshers 2019". Two of our teams (Niklas and Adrian / Altan and Arin) as well as our judge Yimin broke to the finals. But that is still not all: Altan and Arin also won the final, congrats!
As in the previous years, we will offer a beginner's program at the start of the winter semester 2019/2020. It comprises a series of 7 introductory seminars every Wednesday at 6pm starting from 16 October 2019, followed by our club debates at 7pm (both in German and English). There's no need to register for the beginner's program, you can join at any time.
Additional to that we will also have our annual German novice tournament (the "Transrapid-Turnier", Registration needed) on the 30th of November. - Looking forward to seeing you!
Besides our club debates and tournaments we also participate at a lot of other events and try to spread knowledge about debating. - Here you can see a picture of yesterday’s debate at the beautiful "Künstlerhaus" in Munich. Our club members Philipp R. Steen and Christian Rausch (speaking in the picture) took part in a german debate about the topic “Should the art be separated from the artist?”. Since #metoo there has been a lot of discussion about celebrities like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey etc. and the question if you can still enjoy their art or if that’s not possible anymore after what they have done.
We will once again offer a beginners programme at the start of the winter semester 2018/2019. The programme comprises a series of 7 introductory seminars every Wednesday at 6pm starting from 17 October 2018, followed by our club debates at 7pm (both in German and English). We will also have our annual novice tournament (the "Transrapid-Turnier") on 1 December.
After an incredibly successful year, the new board consisting of Yimin, Florens and Kenno was elected this week. We thank the previous board for their hard work and look forward to another successful year of debating.
The first two weeks of the semester will feature beginners workshops. After that, we will launch a training program consisting of casefile-based seminars and practical exercises. Here's some of what will await you in the coming months:
We are extremely proud to announce that our team, consisting of Melda Eren and Philipp Steen, broke second to esl outrounds at the WUDC in Mexico! They are the best team from the german-speaking region and both top ten esl speakers! Congratulations!
